Twice a year we celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick during Mass. This will happen on Friday, May 1 as part of the regularly scheduled 9 AM Mass. During the Mass the priest will come to each person who wants to receive Anointing.
Who should receive this sacrament? Anyone who has a serious or chronic illness, those who are anticipating surgery, or the elderly, are encouraged to come and receive this sacrament. The primary effect of the Sacrament is a spiritual healing by which the person receives the Holy Spirit’s gift of peace and courage, to deal with the difficulties that accompany serious illness or the frailty of old age.
